Taliban Forces Raid Kabul Media Outlet, Assault Journalists

Taliban security forces raided a media outlet in Kabul, physically assaulting journalists during the operation, according to multiple sources familiar with the incident.
The raid, which took place without prior notice or legal justification, saw armed Taliban fighters entering the newsroom, confiscating equipment, and beating staff members who attempted to resist. Several journalists sustained injuries during the assault.
The incident has drawn sharp condemnation from international press freedom organizations. Reporters Without Borders described the raid as 'a brutal reminder of the Taliban's hostility toward independent journalism.'
Afghan journalists in exile expressed outrage over the incident, with AJS-Delhi calling it 'an act of war against the truth.' The association urged the international community to impose consequences on the Taliban for its systematic targeting of media workers.
Since August 2021, the Taliban has shut down dozens of media outlets and arrested numerous journalists, creating what observers call the worst press freedom crisis in Afghanistan's modern history.
