Nai, Afghanistan's leading media support organization now operating in exile, has called on the international community to increase pressure on the Taliban for the immediate release of all imprisoned journalists.

In a detailed report, the organization documented the cases of multiple journalists currently held in Taliban custody, highlighting patterns of arbitrary arrest, denial of due process, and reports of mistreatment during detention.

'Every day these journalists remain behind bars is a day that press freedom dies a little more in Afghanistan,' a Nai spokesperson said. 'The world cannot afford to look away.'

The organization urged foreign governments to leverage diplomatic channels and aid negotiations to secure the release of detained media workers, and called for the establishment of an independent monitoring mechanism for press freedom in Afghanistan.

Nai also called on Afghan journalists in exile to maintain solidarity networks and continue documenting abuses for international accountability.
