Amnesty International Demands Taliban Reveal Fate of Detained Journalists

Amnesty International has issued an urgent appeal to the Taliban to disclose the whereabouts and legal status of journalists currently held in detention across Afghanistan.
The human rights organization expressed deep concern over the growing number of media workers being held without charge, many of whom have been denied access to their families and legal counsel.
'The Taliban must immediately reveal the fate of all detained journalists and ensure their rights are respected,' Amnesty International said in a statement. 'Enforced disappearances and secret detentions are serious violations of international law.'
The appeal comes as reports emerge of journalists being held in Taliban intelligence facilities, subjected to harsh interrogation, and pressured to sign statements denouncing their own reporting.
Afghan journalists based in Delhi have launched a solidarity campaign, documenting cases of detained colleagues and sharing information with international advocacy organizations.
